Does my child really need a composition notebook and colored pencils for science class?

 

Yes, we will be taking notes, creating foldables, drawing illustrations of science concepts and writing reflections and a composition notebook will keep them all together.  I also feel that color adds to the understanding and helps your child get the full benefit of their notes.

 

How much is the room fee and what will it be used for?

 

The room fee for 7th grade is $15.00. Room fees are split between the teachers in each mini-school and allow the teacher to purchase supplies used in the classroom.  In science, they are especially important to buy lab supplies and to replace worn out or broken equipment.

 

Is extra credit available for my child to bring up their grade?

 

This year we are not allowing extra credit to be done since it can inflate a grade while not really increasing the students understanding of the concept.  This website will help your child develop of better understanding of the concepts being taught in science class and will help to raise their grade through knowledge.

 

Why do you need my email address?

 

Your email address is important to stay in touch with you about your student and things that are going on in science class.  I will send you updates about important dates, deadlines, assignments and upcoming events. My hope is that by keeping you informed about your child's schoolwork, together we can help them achieve greatness this year.
